Greg Hughes – General News Writer
Greg is a thirtysomething writer living in the expansive West Texas desert, where his greatest passion in life is music. Drawing from that passion, he is constantly burying his nose in news about the entertainment and music industries. He loves hearing new bands, or bands that are new to him, but is somewhat hard to pinpoint musically. A few of his favorites include Leonard Cohen, Say Hi To Your Mom, The Clash, Joy Division and The Beastie Boys.
When it comes to movies and comics, he never can decide which he enjoys more. He normally prefers cult classics and classic films, with Humphrey Bogart being his favorite actor, but his tastes are the opposite with comics. Although he has read the majority of the early ‘classic’ comic titles, he prefers the artwork and edgier story lines of the last decade.
When he’s not busy keeping up with the headlines, he’s staying on top of the latest Marvel arc, or tracking down albums he’s missed along the way. He is also an avid gamer who has tried just about every MMORPG and enjoys both PC and console games. The PC usually wins out as his preference, though, due to modding communities and player-made content. He can be found online tossing his $.02 in on IMDB and Youtube. He has also been a member of FARK since 2002, but please, don’t hold that against him.
Tamara Woods – General News Writer
Tamara started writing when a boy broke her heart when she was 12. Teen angst kept her writing poetry and journaling into college. Being ever-so practical and not forseeing the internets maiming the newspaper industry, she decided it would be foolish to be just a poet and went into journalism. Fortunately, she’d already developed an interest in story-telling, pop culture and “that’s what she said.” Her undergrad was varied with a concentration in journalism. She is currently working toward a masters of social work degree with a leaning toward community organizing. She is a co-organizer of the Morgantown Poets in Morgantown, WV and hosts a monthly spoken word event called Tha.Speakeasy. She has written for several newspapers in
the state and is currently working on her first novel. She is just geeky enough to use Ubuntu as her operating system. She also likes kittens, black chucks and reading magazines from the back to the front cover.
