Serena Williams not only cost herself the 2009 U.S. Open after an alleged violent outburst towards the line judge who called a foot fault on the defending champion, she was also fined $10,000 by the U.S. Open for unsportsmanlike conduct, plus an additional $500 fine for racket abuse.

Melanie Oudin has been having the tournament of her life, the teen sensation has already taken on and beaten 4 players during the U.S. Open. Not bad for an unranked player who many spectators have never heard of.
Kiim Clijsters completed an impressive win against Na Li in two sets on Tuesday to move on to the Semifinals of the U.S. Open.
Melanie Oudin is having what I’m sure she would call the week of her life. The unseeded Oudin defeated Nadia Petrova 1-6, 7-6 and 6-3 to advance to the tournaments quarterfinals. Petrova was Oudin’s 4th win in the tournament.
