Bruce Gradkoski Replaces JaMarcus Russel at starting QB position

JaMarcus Russell has managed to throw for only 1064 yards in the first nine games of the 2009 NFL season, a fact that forced Raiders coach Tom Cable to bench the starting quarterback in favor of backup QB Bruce Gradkowski.

Cable said in a press conference that Russell’s inability to make smart decisions and manage the game, along with his lack of accuracy led to the decision.

Gradkowski has been in the league for four seasons and as a rookie with Tampa Bay he played in 13 games with 1661 yards, nine touchdowns and nine interceptions. He was also utilized in the 2007 and 2008 seasons sporadically, but showed a very weak QB rating of 35.9 in six games during that two year stretch.
