Samsung SyncMaster P2770HD Monitor and HDTV

The Samsung SyncMaster P2770HD Monitor was announced today in Korea and features an impressive feature set that allows the monitor to operate as a standard PC display, while also featuring HDTV capabilities with 1080P HD output.

The 27 inch display with an HDMI input also features 5ms response times, 50:000:1 contrast ratio and a pair of 3-watt speakers which Samsung says offer 5.1 surround sound in a simulated fashion.

The monitor also offers a picture-by-picture modes which allows users to use their PC while watching HDTV at the same time.

While there’s no official U.S. release date at this time, we expect it won’t be long before we see this $473 unit on store shelves.

  • DudeDad, good observation, it should have only said Picture By Picture, you are correct about picture in picture not being included from what Samsung confirmed with me on the phone today, thanks for the catch :)

Your report, like most sites, states that the 2770HD has picture in picture. There is nothing in the manual about it on Samsung's webpage. I saw one at Costco in MD yesterday, and did not see that option in the menu. I emailed Samsung customer support, and rec'd a response stating that P-in-P is NOT available on this model. Makes no sense to have a built in tuner and so many input options NOT to have P-n-P. Have you actually confirmed that it does/doesn't have P-n-P?
