Southwest Airlines Kicks off 2 year old and mother for crying

Pamela Root and her two year old son Adam were kicked off a Southwest Airlines flight  on Monday when her child wouldn’t stop screaming before take off.

Pamela told MSNBC that her son was screaming “Go! Plane! Go!” and “I want Daddy” before the plane took off, screams she was confident would stop once the flight took off. Unfortunately for her the pilot taxied the plane back into the gate and Pamela and her son were escorted from the aircraft.

The 38 year old mother is now asking that Southwest Airlines apologize for the situation and reimburse her for the portable crib and diapers she had to buy for her extra night stay in Amarillo, Texas.

There may be more to the story however as Southwest released a statement of their own stating that it wasn’t the airlines policy to remove a child if they are crying, however crews are provided with some leeway if the situation has escalated in any manner.

There must have been more to the story. The child, for example, might have refused to stay in his seat, which is an FAA requirement. Parents, sometimes, feel they can break all the rules as long as their child is content, and it's just not right.

Lucy, that was my point in the last part of the story, where I wrote about how Southwest Airline crew has some "leeway" for cases that are out of the normal. I have been on several Southwest planes with crying children, they have never removed them from the flight.

    Kuddo's to Southwest!

For the rest of us that pay to be on that airplane too, why is it 'ok' that we should have to tolerate someone's ill-behaved child? The mother assumed her child would quiet down after takeoff...what if it didn't? How many hours, inflight, does she expect the rest of the airplane to tolerate her screaming child?

If your kid can't behave out in public, keep him at home!

    Amen David !!

Jake your an idiot. Parents with screaming children should take responsibility for their own procreative actions and drive a private vehicle when traveling rather than expecting the rest of society to suffer for their decisions.
The similarities are staggering between parents of publicly misbehaved children and
people who refuse to work yet have no problem collecting welfare checks. Both believe it is OK to force others to sacrifice so they themselves won't have to.

Two year olds are like that no matter the parenting skills. Everyone has bad days, 2 year olds just voice theirs in a loud annoying way. We live in a society with children, get used to it, or just stay home and be a crabby old lonely hermit.
