
The Seagate 2TB Barracuda XT drive was announced today and the drive features an awesome 6Gbps SATA transfer interface and theoretically offers double the bandwidth rates of SATA II drives.
Currently the drive offers burts up to 600MBps and actual transfer speeds sustainable up to 140MBps with Seagate’s 64MB of onboard cache.
The Seagate Barracuda XT also supports SATA II and 1.5Gbps SATA systems and can reach the maximum speeds found on those drives.
The units are due out by the end of this week with a cost of $299. [SlipperyBrick]
