June 10, 2010 marks the start of the month-long World Cup, and this year, they’re kicking it off with a concert featuring the Black Eyed Peas and Shakira, organizers announced today. The World Cup will be held in the South Africa, with the concert being held in a 30,000-capacity stadium in Soweto, the biggest black township in the country. This is the first time Africa has hosted the World Cup.
Along with the Black Eyed Peas and Shakira, Alicia Keys will take the stage for the event. African performers Angelique Kidjo, Amadou and Mariam, Parlotones, and Tinariwen will also be a part of the concert, which will be broadcast around the world.
Proceeds from the concert will go to 20 Centres for 2010, FIFA’s official World Cup campaign. This year the campaign is focused on making a positive change in disadvantaged African neighborhoods. Their goal is to build 20 centres which will be used for healthcare and education, as well as bring soccer training to the communities.

The Black Eyed Peas are an okay Hip Hop group. Some of their music is good but like there are only a few good songs. Some people really like them but I’m just not a huge fan. Like sometimes they’re fun to listen to if you’re in the right mood but other times they’re just kind of annoying.
Black Eyed Peas are one of those groups that get really popular, but only for a short time and then they die down for awhile, but then come back with a hit single or something. Just because a group has 1 or 2 good songs on an album doesn’t make them a good group.
By watching them live, you will see one of the best shows in a long time. You've seen them on television and you've seen that type of energy they bring. Imagine seeing it live. That's something that you won't ever forget. “Boom, Boom, Pow” and “I Gotta Feelin'” are just a few of the songs they have in their repertoire.
