Palm Pre Overclocked To 800MHz [Video]

Palm Pre WebOS Smartphone

The Palm Pre Plus runs a 600MHz TI OMAP 3430 processor that’s been underclocked to 500Mhz, apparently that didn’t sit well with Palm Pre owners who decided to overclock their WebOS 1.3.5.1 phones to a blazing 800MHz.

The tweak causes the Palm Pre to overheat significantly and SlashGear suggests a quick “airplane mode” setting from time to time to ensure cooler and smooth operation.

Surprisingly no big power drain has been witnessed with the modification and as you’ll see in the video below, the device also runs very smoothly with the firmware update.

  1. overclocked says:

OMG..the Palm Pre ran a significant number of apps simultaneously much faster in that video. Overclocked Pre at 800 MHz makes a world of a difference! Is that another new record breaker for the Palm Pre in addition to holding the record for being able to run the most apps at the same time – king of Multitasking and Performance?
