The Oscars have tried to change up some things this year. One of which is showcasing some of the lesser-known categories, such as Best Documentary Short. The winner was “Music by Prudence” by Roger Ross Williams and Elinor Burkett.
“Music by Prudence” documents Mabhena’s life. She’s a 21-year-old from Zimbabwe who has arthrogryposis, a congenital disorder that crippled her arms and legs. She is a musician who leads a marimba band.
As Williams was speaking, apparently Ol’ Dirty Bastard possessed her body, though instead of saying that “Wu-Tang is for the children,” Burkett snatched the mic and started babbling in an equally incomprehensible way, lighting up the internets with tweets and blogs alike, asking, who was that woman? Maybe you can make better sense out of it. Video is below.
