After suffering a BCS Championship game injury against Alabama, Texas QB Colt McCoy was told not to throw at the NFL combine this week, in order to ensure his injury continues to heal properly. McCoy will still participate in other drills at the combine which will occur at the University of Texas pro day on March 31st.
McCoy has remained in California performing rehab since his injury occurred on January 7th.
The injury occurred when McCoy was tackled during the game and pinched a nerve which caused his arm to go numb. Texas ended up losing that game 37-21 after McCoy was unable to return.
He said last week:
“The injury and I think the way that my college career ended has kind of sparked a fire inside of me as far as I’m going to show that I’m going to be ready to go. I’m going to show them that I’m the best, I’m going to show that I’m confident,” adding, “I can’t wait to step out on the field again, forget the taste that’s in my mouth for the last time I played a game. That’s what’s driving me every day.”
Currently McCoy is restrengthening his arm, which is said to have no structural damage. [more: ESPN]
