Late last week, pro wrestler Hulk Hogan (Terry Bollea) and his son Nick reached an out-of-court legal settlement according to AP in the negligence lawsuit pending against them arising from a horrific and well-publicized car accident.
In August 2007, Nick crashed his Toyota Supra in Clearwater, Florida, critically injuring his passenger and friend, Iraq veteran John Graziano. Nick went to jail for about five months on a reckless driving charge. Graziano and his family subsequently filed a civil personal injury lawsuit against the Bolleas.
Graziano apparently suffered permanent brain injuries in the crash and requires around-the-clock care.
As is usually the case, the dollar amount of the settlement was kept confidential. However, given the extent of the injuries, plus the fact that Hogan is the kind of defendant that lawyers consider a “deep pocket,” the settlement amount was likely substantial.
Linda Bollea, Hulk’s soon-to-be ex-wife, settled on her own in January. Unfortunately for him, the Hulkster can probably look forward to writing her a huge check when their divorce becomes final.
