‘Extra’ has confirmed that Jay Leno’s longtime bandleader and sidekick, Kevin Eubanks, will be leaving ‘The Tonight Show.
A source told ‘Extra’ that Eubanks “wanted a change” so he decided to leave the show to pursue other opportunities. Another source told the Entertainment Show that Eubanks would appear on the debut of the newly revamped ‘Tonight Show’ when it comes back on March 1.
Former Hootie and the Blowfish member Darius Rucker is rumored to be Eubanks replacement.
Eubanks joined the show in 1992 where he became the bandleader two years later. Prior to the ‘Tonight Show,’ Eubanks released several albums.
