Federer Wins His Fourth Australian Open

A year ago, Roger Federer was brought to tears after a devastating loss to Rafael Nadal. It was his first chance to tie Pete Sampras ‘ record of 14 Grand Slam titles. Since then, Federer has won two more titles, and now adds another Australian Open, his fourth, to make a total of 16 Grand Slam Titles.

Federer defeated Andy Murray 6-3 6-4 7-6 in the Sunday night final. Federer celebrated this time as Murray wept. Murray would have been the first Brit to win a major since 1936.

“I can cry like Roger; it’s just a shame I can’t play like him,” said Murray after the match.
